LaL Language Centres was set up in Torbay in 1980, and offers language courses with leisure programmes for adults and young learners around the world. LaL have schools for adults in Boston, London, Torbay, Florida, Cape Town, Malta and Gozo. LaL also run residential summer schools in the UK, USA and Malta.

LaL prides itself on the quality of their courses. The lessons are taught by trained teachers, and the schools are accredited in each country as a mark of the high standards.

LaL stands for ‘Language And Leisure’, which emphasises our belief that students should get out of the classroom and enjoy themselves while practising their new language skills. The activity programme for Young Learners is fully supervised by a large team of Activity Assistants and provides the students with a mix of compulsory and optional activities every week. Adults are offered a wide range of excursions and tours, ranging from visits to local beauty spots to trips to cities further afield. LaL have their own minibuses and employ driver-guides to help the students get the most out of their visit.

We're confident that our teaching methodology and learning opportunities will allow you to reach your goals. We make sure that everyone is in the right class with a level test on the first day. If you do not progress as expected we will provide you with additional support to ensure your success at no additional cost. We guarantee you will reach your learning goals in the number of weeks shown on the right if:

• You attend all your lessons
• You participate fully in all classroom tasks and activities
• You complete all homework
• You use every opportunity to practise English outside the classroom
• You have adequate linguistic capability

LAL London school of English is located in Twickenham in the beautiful borough of Richmond upon Thames and occupies part of a modern building which has been refitted to provide up-to-date facilities and an excellent learning environment.

The school has 11 classrooms which hold a maximum of 12 students in each room. There is an interactive whiteboard in our business classroom and our other classrooms have a 50″ HD television and Apple TV to enable interactive lessons, supporting them with topical and interesting media content.

When your lessons are over, you can relax in the student lounge, play with our iPads or practise your English with your fellow students. The student lounge is also the place where you can take part in one of the many clubs we run at LAL to both give you the opportunity to learn more and socialise with students from other class.

If you wish, you could also rent or purchase books from our library and bookshop to continue your learning outside the classroom.

Due to high demand, finding a place to stay in London has never been easy. However, the LaL London school of English has everything in hand to find the perfect accommodation for you!

Would you like to live close to the school in order to wake up only five minutes before your lessons begin? Then you might find the Allied House student apartment (just two floors above the school) the right place for you. Or, just a few steps away, there is a student residence where you will be able to make new international friends every day.

If you would rather get to know the true British culture, let us book you a single room in one of our selected British homestays.

Alternatively, we offer two hotels – one for the budget-minded, the St Giles, only 20 minutes door-to-door, with fantastic connections to London Heathrow airport, or the Alexander Pope, a small but very well furnished pub/hotel, serving excellent food.
